Program Description:
University Profile
 
The city of Kochi is located in southern Japan on the island of Shikoku. Kochi is just one hour away from Tokyo by plane and just three hours from Hiroshima by train. Kochi University is surrounded by communities with a rich history, tradition and natural environment. KU enhances its education by learning from the community and benefiting them with research. One of the most outstanding features of the university is the teaching of skills that will contribute to the development of society!
 
Academic Notes
Kochi University offers the opportunity for students to experience Japanese culture and language. All courses will be taught in English, but two semesters of language are required before completing the program (Japanese 1A and 1B). 
 
Fieldtrips: 
  • Makino Botanical Grade, Ryoma Sakamoto Museum, and Ryugado Cave
  • Dogo Onsen  (hot spring)
  • Japanese Culture Field Tour
  • Ashizuri Cape (overnight trip, fees not included)

Housing and Meals
  • Program fees: 0
  • Approximate Airfare: $1,500
  • Approximate Housing: $700 double occupancy
  • Approximate Meals: $560 for 40 days ($14 for 3 meals at day)
  • Approximate Field Work: $115 (Including: Hotel stay, food, sea activity and admission fees)
  • Approximate Personal Expenses: $125 (Including Travel Insurance and textbooks)
  • Total Estimated Costs: $3,000 or 34,220 yen
Insurance Requirement
All Fresno State students studying abroad are required to have the CSU required international travel and health insurance.
 
Visa
No Student Visa is required for short term programs.
